Elevating the guest experience: the power of brand identity in hos- pitality
As a designer, I have always been passionate about creating visually appealing spaces through interior design, graphic design, and other creative media.
However, early in my career, I discovered that a great experience requires more than just pretty designs. I learned this while working at a luxurious resort hotel, where I realized that small details are what make guests feel special. Besides offering a comfortable bed, delicious food, and a refreshing pool, exceeding guests’ expectations and leaving a lasting impression are crucial.
To achieve this, brand identity plays a crucial role. Delivering a consistent and memorable brand experience can truly elevate guests’ overall experience and create a lasting bond with them. At the hotel, we had a strong brand identity reflected in everything we did, from the room design to the uniforms worn by staff members. This consistency created a sense of trust and familiarity that made guests feel at home even if they were miles away.
One creative idea we implemented was asking guests to write down their biggest dreams before checking out. Every year, we would raffle and make one of those dreams come true. How awesome is that?! This is just one example of what you can do when you have a strong brand identity. By the way, the hotel was called Onyria, which means “dream” in Greek.
In conclusion, my experience taught me that creating visually appealing spaces is only part
of the equation. To truly elevate guest experience, it’s crucial to deliver a consistent and memorable brand experience. By doing so, you can create a lasting bond with your guests and turn them into loyal advocates for your brand.
